Biografía. / Biography.

Antonio Morcillo López comenzó a escribir teatro directamente para la escena, sin ningún tipo de formación, mientras acababa su doctorando en Filosofía del Derecho. Después vinieron muchos talleres, muchas horas de lectura, muchas horas más de escritura y, finalmente, el Institut del Teatre de Barcelona, donde terminó los estudios en Dirección y Dramaturgia. Desde entonces, sigue trabajando con el mismo deseo del principio: escribir la mejor obra de teatro posible. Sólo eso. O al menos, intentarlo. (Pausa). Y, una vez acabada, reescribirla de nuevo.

Escritura. / Style.

«A veces pienso que no puedo escribir una obra de teatro sin haberla "visto" en su totalidad antes de ponerme a escribir. Esta visión puede significar trabajar sobre la idea y sus posibilidades durante meses sin resultado alguno. Puede significar que todo cambie en un momento dado. Y seguro que significa preguntarse qué es lo que quiero decir yo al contar la historia, cómo me relaciono yo con el material. Qué es lo que estoy narrando siempre y en cada momento. En ningún momento pienso en ningún tipo de público, porque lo importante es la historia. Descubrir cómo es que ella quiere contarse. Su forma de transmisión. La transmisión de uno mismo a través de la obra y las palabras.» (Antonio Morcillo López).

«Sometimes I feel that I can’t write a play without having “seen” it in its entirety, before sitting down to write. This vision may require me to develop the idea and its possibilities for several months, without yielding any meaningful results. This may mean that everything changes at a given moment. And of course, it means asking myself what message I want to convey by telling the story, and how I relate to the material myself. It means asking myself what it is that I am saying at all times. At no point do I think of a particular audience, because what matters is the story. Discovering how the story wants to be told. The way in which it is transmitted. The transmission of oneself through the piece and the words spoken therein.» (Antonio Morcillo López).
