Biografía. / Biography.

«Estudié Publicidad y RRPP en la Universidad de Salamanca. Cuando terminé la carrera me fui a Madrid con un montón de currículos en la maleta. No envié ninguno. Ingresé en Guindalera y empecé mi carrera como actriz. Después, obra por aquí, corto por allá, un par de publis… En aquella época ya escribía: sketches, adaptaciones, alguna obrita corta, en fin… Cosas que jamás leería en público. Cuando terminé Guindalera, decidí estudiar en la Factoría del Guión. Durante un buen tiempo, pensé que el audiovisual era mi medio, hasta que un día vi un anuncio en la Unión de Actores. Era un taller que José Sanchis Sinisterra impartía en el Nuevo Teatro Fronterizo. Ahí empezó mi verdadero noviazgo con la escritura teatral. Y, aunque de cuando en cuando tengo mis escarceos con la dirección y la interpretación, parece que la dramaturgia y yo tenemos una relación estable: becas, talleres, seminarios, alguna publicación, estrenos… Y yo sigo. Sigo escribiendo porque se me van las manos (y la cabeza). Y porque tengo hambre de palabra. Y de teatro.» (Eva Redondo).

«I studied Advertising and Public Relations at the University of Salamanca. When I finished my degree, I moved to Madrid with a suitcase full of résumés. I didn’t send out a single one. Instead, I joined Guindalera and began my career as an actress. After that, it was a play here, a short film there, a couple of commercials… During that time, I was already writing: sketches, adaptations, a few short plays—things I would never dare to read in public. When I finished at Guindalera, I decided to study at the Factoría del Guión. For a while, I thought audiovisual was my medium until one day I saw an ad from the Unión de Actores. It was for a workshop led by José Sanchis Sinisterra at the Nuevo Teatro Fronterizo. That’s when my real love affair with playwriting began. And although I occasionally dabble in directing and acting, it seems that dramaturgy and I have a steady relationship: grants, workshops, seminars, some publications, premieres… And I keep going. I keep writing because my hands (and my mind) have a will of their own. And because I hunger for words. And for theater.» (Eva Redondo).

Escritura. / Style.

«Me resulta verdaderamente difícil analizar mi propia dramaturgia (¡qué original!). Casi nunca sé el tema de la obra. Yo parto de una imagen y dejo que los personajes hablen. Ante ellos, me siento como una espectadora más. Me intrigan, me sorprenden, me asustan. Los quiero y los odio. Como a mis obras. Como a mi oficio. Como a este carácter mío que convierte todo en incertidumbre, en sospecha, en posibilidad.» (Eva Redondo).

«It’s really difficult to analyse my own style of playwrighting (what an original answer!). I almost never know the topic of the piece. I base my writing on an image, and leave the characters to speak for themselves. Watching them on stage, I feel like a regular member of the audience. They intrigue, surprise and shock me. I love them and hate them in equal measure. Just like my works. Just like my job. Just like this trait of mine that makes everything uncertain, suspicious or possible.» (Eva Redondo).
