Roy Youdale es Senior Research Associate en la School of Modern Languages de la University of Bristol y traductor literario. Ha traducido al inglés obras de autores hispanohablantes, entre ellas la novela Gracias por el fuego, de Mario Benedetti, y relatos de Edmundo Paz Soldán. También ha traducido obras teatrales de Jesús Campos García con el apoyo financiero de la Fundación SGAE. Su actividad como traductor combina la práctica de la traducción literaria con su investigación sobre tecnología y traducción. Ha trabajado especialmente en la traducción asistida por ordenador, la lingüística de corpus y la visualización de textos, ámbitos que también desarrolla en su actividad académica y editorial. Entre sus traducciones publicadas se encuentran Cuento con dictador y tarjetas, de Edmundo Paz Soldán, traducido junto con Nick Caistor y publicado en Los Angeles Review en 2021, y Robot Poeta, del mismo autor, publicado en línea por Storythings en 2021. También ha traducido …y la casa crecía y Patético jinete del rock and roll, de Jesús Campos García. Roy es miembro de la Emerging Translators Network y de la Translators’ Association del Reino Unido. Su trabajo académico y de investigación se centra en la traducción literaria y el uso de herramientas tecnológicas aplicadas a la traducción.

Roy Youdale is a Senior Research Associate in the School of Modern Languages at the University of Bristol and a literary translator. He has translated works by Spanish-speaking authors into English, including the novel Gracias por el fuego by Mario Benedetti and short stories by Edmundo Paz Soldán. He has also translated plays by Jesús Campos García with financial support from the Fundación SGAE. His work as a translator combines literary translation practice with research into technology and translation. His research focuses particularly on computer-assisted literary translation, corpus linguistics and text visualisation, areas that also form part of his academic and publishing work. His published translations include Cuento con dictador y tarjetas by Edmundo Paz Soldán, translated with Nick Caistor and published in the Los Angeles Review in 2021, and Robot Poeta by the same author, published online by Storythings in 2021. He has also translated …y la casa crecía and Patético jinete del rock and roll by Jesús Campos García. Roy is a member of the Emerging Translators Network and the Translators’ Association of the UK. His academic and research work focuses on literary translation and the use of technological tools in translation.
