Biografía. / Biography.

«Nací el 13 de Enero de 1990. Enseguida me sentí atraída por la lectura, por el saber y la experiencia que transmite sin ser necesariamente vivida, inclinada al multi y al autoconocimiento, tan vasto y simple a la vez. En el colegio e instituto me presentaba a todos los certámenes literarios que pude advertir, (advertida por un impulso extraño a imaginar y escribir) en especial si se trataban de teatro. En éste género encontré la máxima expresión de libertad porque poseía potencial de ser llevado a escena, a ese tipo de realidad que podemos crear, modificar o destruir. Dichos certámenes extrañamente los ganaba. El más importante quizás, a los 16 años, Premio Fundación Valle-Inclán de Teatro con la obra "El gran sueño de Camila", luego seguiría un maravilloso accesit honorífico del Certamen Casa de teatro iberoamericano en República Dominicana con la obra "Nunca volverá" (con publicación de la obra teatral) y otras obras que siguieron su curso de ser escritas pero no representadas en el contexto de otros estudios universitarios que cursé, finalicé y ahora ejerzo. Sigo escribiendo, porque hay algo especial el todo ello. También escribo porque como dicen en mi tierra "nunca se sabe"…» (Isabel Gonzalo).

«I was born on January 13, 1990. From an early age, I felt drawn to reading, to the knowledge and experience that books convey without having to be lived firsthand — a fascination with both multiplicity and self-discovery, vast and simple at once. At school and high school, I entered every literary contest I could find, driven by a strange impulse to imagine and write, especially if it involved theatre. In this genre, I found the ultimate expression of freedom because it has the potential to be brought to life on stage — a type of reality we can create, modify, or destroy. Strangely enough, I often won these contests. Perhaps the most important was, at sixteen, the Fundación Valle-Inclán Theatre Prize for my play El gran sueño de Camila. Later, I received a wonderful honorary mention at the Casa de Teatro Iberoamericano contest in the Dominican Republic for Nunca volverá, which was also published. Other works followed, written but not staged, while I pursued and completed other university studies that I now practice professionally. I keep writing because there is something special about it all. And, as we say in my land, “you never know”…» (Isabel Gonzalo).

«Me gusta incluir la tradición porque en ella se halla un rico compendio de sensibilidades, sentimientos y explicaciones, en muchas ocasiones en relación a preguntas que nunca han tenido un porqué suficientemente claro. Me gusta lo mágico entendido como un concepto amplio que deja a la mente escurrirse por rendijas y huecos sin límites, desconocidos y vibrantes. Me gusta hacer desarrollar sentimientos clásicos con el fundamento de sostenerlos mientras se emociona y se hacer emocionar. Me gusta que me hagan pensar más allá y más allá tener la sensación de que la sociedad, el mundo y todo lo que lo hace único, es todavía un misterio en cuya esencia hay un telón a punto de alzarse… Tengo un horizonte infinito de aprendizaje, pero me gusta lo que escribo y lo que todavía no he escrito.» (Isabel Gonzalo).

«I like to include tradition, because in it one can find a rich compendium of sensitivities, feelings and explanations, often related to questions that have never been properly answered. I like magic understood as a broad concept which allows the mind to slip through cracks and endless holes, which are unknown and vibrant. I like to develop classic feelings in order to sustain them, while getting excited and making others feel excited. I like being made to think outside the box, leaving me with the feeling that society, the world and everything that makes it unique remains a mystery, in whose essence there is a curtain that is about to rise. I have an infinite horizon for learning, but I like what I have written and what remains for me to write.» (Isabel Gonzalo).
