Darío hace su nido en Madrid. Sus padres de origen ecuatoriano vienen volando en la nube del estado de bienestar, pronto llegará el polluelo en brazos de un airbus transoceánico. El adolescente no decidió viajar, su dolor de migrante no pesa tanto, pero lo arrastra hasta la cotidianidad del hoy. Su pulso artístico se manifestó hace catorce años, cuando decidió sentarse en un aula de teatro del barrio de Chamberí y no en la universidad complutense; cambió la idea de hacer psicología por la idea de hacer interpretación. Hacerse un hueco en los márgenes burgueses y en los pliegues del privilegio. En 2010 viaja a Barcelona para trabajar con la compañía Internacional La Fura dels Baus, realizando una gira mundial durante dos años con Titus Andrónicus. A su regreso a Madrid decide especializarse en teatro físico a la par que investigar el mundo de la dirección y la escritura escénica. En el maelstrom de sus años veinte invierte en recibir decenas de cursos, dirige y escribe sus propias obras, viaja al extranjero para coordinar, dirigir y disfrutar de intercambios teatrales. En la actualidad y habiendo presentado su trabajo en festivales como Frinje Madrid (Naves de Matadero), Surge (Sala Cuarta Pared/Nave 73), Essencia (Sala Cuarta Pared), Sci-fi (Teatro Pradillo) decide seguir investigando el mundo de la pedagogía, la escritura y la dirección escénica. Su último trabajo como actor es en el CDN con Noche Oscura de Salva Bolta y texto de Sergio Martinez Vila.

Darío built his nest in Madrid. His parents, originally from Ecuador, arrived borne along on the cloud of the welfare state; soon the fledgling would arrive too, carried in the arms of a transoceanic Airbus. The teenager did not choose to travel, and his migrant pain may not weigh as heavily, yet it follows him into the everyday life of the present. His artistic impulse first manifested itself fourteen years ago, when he chose to sit in a theatre classroom in the Chamberí district rather than at the Complutense University; he exchanged the idea of studying psychology for that of becoming an actor. Making a place for himself within bourgeois margins and the folds of privilege. In 2010 he travelled to Barcelona to work with the international company La Fura dels Baus, embarking on a two-year world tour with Titus Andrónicus. Upon returning to Madrid, he decided to specialise in physical theatre while also exploring directing and stage writing. In the maelstrom of his twenties, he invested in dozens of training courses, directed and wrote his own works, and travelled abroad to coordinate, direct and take part in theatrical exchanges. At present, after presenting his work at festivals such as Frinje Madrid (Naves de Matadero), Surge (Sala Cuarta Pared/Nave 73), Essencia (Sala Cuarta Pared) and Sci-fi (Teatro Pradillo), he continues to explore pedagogy, writing and stage direction. His latest work as an actor was at the Centro Dramático Nacional in Noche Oscura, directed by Salva Bolta with a text by Sergio Martínez Vila.

Escritura. / Style.

«La forma que tengo de escribir supongo que es un híbrido entre la estructura y la intuición, entre el sistema y los amores del pasado, se me aparece mi familia, mi experiencia como actor y las lecturas que me apasionan. Si tengo que hablar de estilo, éste parte de un dadaismo ingenuo hasta el vanguardismo más "lidelliano". Me interesa el estilo que surge de manera orgánica en la investigación, cargado de contenido filosófico y aires mitológicos, dirigido al inconsciente de un lector. La etimología es un cuadro que tengo en mi mesa de trabajo. El cuerpo siempre está presente, es como un llama que siempre está bailando y cuando se apaga muere. La muerte también está presente en mis textos; la muerte de una identidad o de un romance o de una ideología. La caída es algo recurrente, un personaje siempre cae; un bucle de amor infinito. La extenuación, la repetición, el signo. Últimamente imagino cuadros, tableaux vivants donde se superponen cuerpos, palabras, silencios, colores y texturas. Soy aristotélico cuando me conviene y soy "artaudiano" la mayoría de las veces.» (Darío Sigco).

«The way I write is, I suppose, a hybrid between structure and intuition, between system and the loves of the past; my family appears in it, as do my experience as an actor and the readings I am passionate about. If I have to speak about style, mine ranges from a naïve Dadaism to the most ‘Lidellian’ avant-garde. I am interested in the kind of style that emerges organically through research, charged with philosophical content and mythological overtones, aimed at the unconscious of the reader. Etymology is like a painting hanging over my worktable. The body is always present; it is like a flame that is constantly dancing, and when it goes out, it dies. Death is also present in my texts: the death of an identity, of a romance, or of an ideology. Falling is a recurring motif — a character is always falling; an endless loop of love. Exhaustion, repetition, the sign. Lately I imagine pictures, tableaux vivants in which bodies, words, silences, colours and textures overlap. I am Aristotelian when it suits me, and ‘Artaudian’ most of the time.» (Darío Sigco).
