Biografía. / Biography.

Iván nació en Jaén en el año 1993. Desde que le enseñaron a juntar letras con otras comenzó su carrera literaria escribiendo cuentos de ficción en folios que le cosía su abuela. Las palabras estaban escritas como sonaban con su acento andaluz, que más tarde perdió al crecer en la Marina Baixa de Alicante. Con dieciséis años se apuntó a su primer taller de interpretación en Baeza durante el verano. Tuvo una etapa universitaria turbulenta, en la que llegó a acudir a la ESAD de Málaga durante un tiempo hasta que, debido a problemas mentales, tuvo que abandonar su independencia y su formación como actor. Iván ha tenido muchos más trabajos que la mayoría. Ha tenido que hacer otras cosas para ganarse la vida. Sin embargo, recuperó su independencia, retomó su formación e ilusión hacia el teatro. Ha hecho varias obras y cortometrajes como actor, escritor y director. Ha formado una familia y vivido en su propia casa varios años en Irlanda. En 2025, regresa a España y presenta algunas de sus obras teatrales con el deseo de que sean representadas en el escenario. También escribe narrativa, poesía y guiones de cine y TV.

Iván was born in Jaén in 1993. Ever since he was taught to string letters together, he began his literary journey writing fiction stories on sheets of paper that his grandmother would stitch into little books. The words were written just as they sounded in his Andalusian accent—an accent he later lost after growing up in the Marina Baixa region of Alicante. At sixteen, he enrolled in his first acting workshop in Baeza during the summer. His university years were turbulent: he briefly attended the ESAD in Málaga, but due to mental health issues, he had to give up both his independence and his training as an actor. Iván has had more jobs than most, often doing other things to make a living. Yet he eventually regained his independence, rekindled his passion for theatre, and resumed his training. He has since acted in, written, and directed several plays and short films. He started a family and spent several years living in his own home in Ireland. In 2025, he returns to Spain to present some of his plays, hoping to see them come to life on stage. He also writes fiction, poetry, and screenplays for film and television.

«Escribo por intuición. Curro mucho. Todo lo que puedo. A veces investigo y suelo contrastar la información que recabo. Me ayuda mucho escuchar música a la hora de escribir. A veces preparo las estructuras de las historias y otras tiro de impulso y corazón. No me apasiona ninguna temática en concreto. Y me revienta dar y que las historias manden mensajes con megáfono del autor. Comparta esa ideología o no, pienso que el arte va mucho más allá. Y es curioso que existen teorías educativas sobre aprender mediante emociones. Eso es lo que busco transmitir, sensaciones y emociones poderosas, eso es lo que entiendo como mi compromiso de artista. Me gusta defender la ficción, escuchar a esos seres del imaginario y dejar que ellos cuenten lo que quieran contar. Me apasionan las historias que, como la vida, sorprenden.» (Iván Aranda Maqueda).

«I write by intuition. I work hard— as much as I can. Sometimes I do research and usually double-check the information I find. Music helps me a lot when I’m writing. Sometimes I plan out the structure of a story, other times I just follow impulse and heart. I’m not drawn to any specific theme. And I can’t stand it when stories become megaphones for the author’s message. Whether I share that ideology or not, I believe art goes far beyond that. It’s interesting that there are educational theories about learning through emotions—because that’s exactly what I try to convey: strong sensations and emotions. That’s how I understand my commitment as an artist. I like to defend fiction, to listen to those imaginary beings and let them tell whatever story they want to tell. I’m passionate about stories that, like life itself, know how to surprise.» (Iván Aranda Maqueda).
