Nació en una ciudad de mar, aunque los portugueses la llamaron río. Rio de Janeiro. Siendo de mar —y del signo Cáncer—, tiene los pies anclados en el Atlántico, ese inmenso océano que separa —y conecta— América, África y Europa. Cuando está en él, su mirada siempre está proyectada al otro lado. Quizás por eso se graduó en Literatura —a la vez que estudiaba teatro—, con especialización en los países de lengua portuguesa. Otra vez, América, África y Europa. Asia llegó después. Como algunos de sus ancestros (los portugueses), también estuvo en Japón, luego en otros países, España incluida. En ellos, se sumergió en el teatro, en escuelas como London International School of Performing Arts, Laboratorio William Layton y SITI Company (Anne Bogart). Aprendió de y con Kameron Steele, Oliver Pollack, Eva Redondo, Chelo García, Tizuka Yamazaki, entre otros. Y empezó a escribir teatro.

They were born in a seaside city, although the Portuguese called it a river: Rio de Janeiro. Being a child of the sea—and a Cancer—they have their feet anchored in the Atlantic, that vast ocean that separates—and connects—America, Africa and Europe. Whenever they are in it, their gaze is always projected towards the other side. Perhaps that is why they studied Literature—while also studying theatre—with a specialisation in Portuguese-speaking countries. Once again, America, Africa and Europe. Asia came later. Like some of their ancestors (the Portuguese), they also spent time in Japan, and later in other countries, including Spain. There, they immersed themselves in theatre, studying at institutions such as the London International School of Performing Arts, Laboratorio William Layton and SITI Company (Anne Bogart). They learned from and worked with Kameron Steele, Oliver Pollack, Eva Redondo, Chelo García, Tizuka Yamazaki, among others. And then they began writing theatre.

Escritura. / Style.

Escribe desde la poética y las imágenes. Podría incluso decir que las (d)escribe, porque necesita visualizarlas. Necesita sentir la atmósfera, los cuerpos, su estado y el espacio en el que están. Cree hacer un teatro visual, o le gustaría llevar su arte hacia ese lugar. Por eso, la escenografía —y las artes visuales— le seducen. Para él/ella, son como paisajes. Él/ella respira los paisajes. Un personaje tomándose una sopa de quinoa, sentado en la hierba de una isla quechua, inmersa en el profundo azul del lago Titicaca, mientras mira los Andes nevados, es para él/ella, de por sí, toda una escena, toda una historia. Hace teatro para (re)conectar, para reivindicar, para existir. Existe a través de sus personajes, como actxr y dramaturgx. Sus temas suelen ser la soledad, la opresión, el pasado, lo que no pudo ser y aquello de lo que no se habla.

They write through poetry and imagery. They could even say that they (d)escribe them, because they need to visualise them. They need to feel the atmosphere, the bodies, their state of being and the space they inhabit. They believe they create visual theatre, or that this is where they would like to take their art. That is why scenography—and the visual arts—seduce them. For them, they are like landscapes. They breathe landscapes. A character eating quinoa soup, sitting on the grass of a Quechua island immersed in the deep blue of Lake Titicaca, gazing at the snow-capped Andes, is in itself an entire scene, an entire story. They make theatre to (re)connect, to reclaim, to exist. They exist through their characters, as an actor and playwright. Their recurring themes include loneliness, oppression, the past, what could not be, and the things we do not talk about.
