Sinopsis. / Synopsis.

Sangre carbón. O el grito de una tierra esquilmada por los hombres. Marusina llora a su hermano Mario, muerto en la mina; Mara trata de convencerla de que ambas están vivas y deben olvidar. Como toda tragedia, esta es la historia de una transgresión: la que comete Mara, su protagonista, para salvar la vida de su hermana Marusina; un viaje al interior de la tierra, y también de sí misma, únicamente por amor.

Sangre carbón. Or the cry of a land exhausted by men. Marusina mourns her brother Mario, killed in the mine; Mara tries to convince her that they are both alive and must forget. Like every tragedy, this is the story of a transgression—the one Mara, its protagonist, commits to save the life of her sister Marusina; a journey into the depths of the earth, and also of herself, moved by love alone.

Biografía. / Biography.

«Estudié Filosofía en la Universidad Complutense, en la que me doctoré en 2011. Y también Dramaturgia en la RESAD. Después me he formado con maestros como Sanchis Sinisterra, Itziar Pascual, Martin Crimp y Suzanne Lebeau. Escribo narrativa y teatro, tanto para niños y niñas como para personas adultas. Investigo y, además, imparto clases de escritura en la escuela de Las Hedonistas. Además de las obras que aparecen en mi perfil, también soy autora del ensayo "Ogros, espinacas y demás... Cómo contar 'lo terrible' a niñas y niños en el teatro" (Premio Juan Cervera de Investigación sobre Teatro para la Infancia y la Juventud 2017; publicado por Assitej España en 2018).» (Lola Fernández de Sevilla).

«I studied Philosophy at the Universidad Complutense, where I earned my PhD in 2011, and later trained in Playwriting at RESAD. I’ve also studied with mentors such as Sanchis Sinisterra, Itziar Pascual, Martin Crimp and Suzanne Lebeau. I write both fiction and theatre, for children as well as for adults. I research and teach writing at the Las Hedonistas school. In addition to the plays listed on my profile, I’m also the author of the essay Ogros, espinacas y demás... Escritura. / Style.

«Me interesan mucho las posibilidades que ofrece el lenguaje teatral, de "contar sin contar"; de mantenerse en el límite de la polisemia y dejar que sean los espectadores y las espectadoras quienes tengan que completar el significado. En dramaturgia para la infancia, tengo debilidad por temas complicados, como la muerte o la soledad: me gusta concebir mi escritura como un proceso de búsqueda e investigación, para tratar de averiguar cuáles son las mejores formas de contar. Además de eso, me apasiona el lenguaje de los objetos (títeres, y más allá), y también las posibilidades expresivas que ofrece el trabajo corporal, más allá del texto.» (Lola Fernández de Sevilla).

«I’m very interested in the possibilities offered by theatrical language, of “telling without telling”; to remain on the limit of polysemy, with the spectators being left to uncover the true meaning themselves. In the “dramaturgia para la infancia y la juventud” conferences, I am drawn towards complicated topics such as death and solitude: I like to think of my writing as a process of searching and investigating, aiming to work out the best ways of conveying messages. Besides this, I’m passionate about the language of objects (puppets and the like), and the expressive possibilities offered by working with the body, which are found beyond the text itself.» (Lola Fernández de Sevilla).
